It fits that it is James who steps in now. After all, it is his world-view that Grayson espouses.

Parents have so much power and some, unfortunately, abuse it. James honestly wants to protect his son by toughening him so that Grayson never gets hurt. Is what he is doing different from what other parents do - inculcating fear, hatred, prejudice... in young impressionable minds?

Another question I have - and one of the reasons I'm hooked on to this story - is, why is plain decency considered such a threat?
