THE LADY OR THE TIGER?
Hi guy!
I wanted to share a special story with you
When I was growing up, my father, a man I admire so much, always full of wisdom and thoughtful inspirations. Every single Friday evening, once he's back from fishing, he will share some stories with us.
How I've missed those moments.
Here's one of such stories that changed my view of love. What is love? It's titled
The Lady or The Tiger?
This story is about a king who lived in the ancient times.
This king had a unique method of administering Justice. His approach I think was really extreme.
So he built for himself and his people a huge arena.
Under it he puts two doors.
When a culprit was brought before him, accused of any crime,
the king would give him the choice of which door he would open.
If the accused man chose the right door, there came forth from the door a beautiful lady, the lady must now be married to the accused.
But if he chose the wrong door, there came out of it a fierce and hungry tiger,
which immediately tore him to pieces.
So any accused will always be in the dilemma as which door to choose!
I looked up at my father and I said Dad, but that's ridiculous! What if the accused is innocent? Hmmmm.. Son, that was the unusual method of the king and in those days what ever the king says is accepted whether right or wrong. So whether the accused is right or wrong, was completely not a factor. Replied my father.
He continued:
So one day, one handsome commoner fell in love with the king's beautiful daughter and she with him.
That was a grevious crime because it did not suit the king's plan that his daughter should marry a commoner, no matter how well favoured he might be.
So the poor suitor was promptly clapped into a cell and informed that, he must stand trial tommorow in the arena like any common culprit.
Guess what?
That's right! The princess was heartbroken and devastated. She tried prayers, she tried tears, but her father was adamant.
Any common man who dares lift his eyes to her deserved death and death he should have or marriage to someone in his own class. Said the king!
Failing to change her father's mind, the princess tried the guards.
But no amount of money would persuade them to free her lover.
She was only able to know from which door the tiger would come and from which the lady would come. Moreover, she learned who exactly the lady was--- a lady she had seen more than once casting amorous glances at her lover!
Now she was torn between love and jealousy. She could not see her lover killed before her eyes and yet would it not be better to suffer that moment of agony and be able to remember him as loving only her than to see him day after day in the arms of another, see the victory in the other's lady eye, see his eye turn away from her to the beauty in his arms?
As in dream, she took her place beside her father, she saw her lover step forth, saw him look to her for a sign.
Now she is really confused. Which door should she signal her lover? The Lady or The Tiger?
To be continued.....

A tricky one. I wouldn't know what to do myself should I be in her place. But I'd rather he lives than die so... maybe lead her to a kind tiger?
Thanks a lot for your thoughtful answer. Hahahaa! a kind tiger. That's hilarious. Whichever door we would chose is linear to our concept of what love really is.
