How my younger brother could have turn an imbecile

in #story7 years ago (edited)

Hey steemians, hope you had a good day, tonight i will like to share an unforgetable experience that happened about 11 years back.
My mum being a Teacher goes to work very early and come back late and my dad being a nurse travels on mondays and come back by weekends. So most times my mum is always available. We are a family of six in which we are all boys. Being an AS genetype, the common illness we do have is malaria, and once we take anti-malaria, within a week we believe should be ok.
The experience am about to share happened to my immediate brother, a very huge, black, handsome guy.

It happened that friday afternoon when he came back from school complaining about headache and body pains, luckily for him, mum was back from school, as usual my mum told him to shower and come eat after which she gave him anti-malaria to take and he went to bed that afternoon and slept off.

Around 7:00pm we all sat with mum in the sitting room, when we had a noise that came from the room were he was lying, we all rushed in, to our suprise, we met my brother on the floor crying. We carried him and placed him back on the bed and he went back to sleep.

The next morning, we are all awake, my mum went to check on him in the room, he was still sleeping, she ignored him. And later went back to ask him what he will like to take that morning, he wasnt responding that my mum had to place him on her laps, it was then she knew he wasnt talking. She was like whats wrong, is it the malaria that now got you like this.
He tried talking, saliva starts to drip down his cheeks. Mum shivered and call on us, immediately we called dad to explain the situation, He told us to calm that he will start to come.

About three days after, he couldnt stand on his own, his hands facing down; sign of imbecility
That was how we started, medications upon medications.

Fortunately for us, there was a programm going on for three days in church back then, despite the fact my brother was sick, Mum had no option than to attend all and we stayed back at home watching.
We nursed him for months, throughout this period he didnt visit any hospital. If not for prayer and God's intervention.

But thanks to God today, hes able to walk, stand on his own, infact he can ride bike, drive car, hold on to things even better than before. Infact, He wrote his post exams lately.
Thanks.

Please always visit the hospital in the event of a health issue. They are better qualified to handle that. Self medication have been known to do more harm than good. Thank you.

Is not that, what really happened is that my dad is a health practitioner

That's good to know. Keep steeming.
