SHADOWS IN THE SHADOWS (Story Case # 503)

It was night. The silver light emissions moon lit the starry sky and the scenes underneath it Everything was calm and all were gone or so it appeared. No living animal strolled the roads spare the soul of the night or as the villagers of Aro called it, the meandering apparition. It was an evil presence who had been threatening the villagers for a half year.

The town square was packed toward the beginning of the day By and by, a youngster had disappeared. The meandering phantom had gone by the hovel of Chief Balogun. Sitting amidst the square was the boss and his family. His better half sobbed wildly and couldn't be comforted.

Late into the earlier night, the five sentinels who viewed over the Chief's family unit had heard a murmuring sound like that made by a snake. They had instantly felt a staggering discombobulation. The rest was history. Of the considerable number of sentinels, just Tayo was half-alert toward the beginning of the day. The rest of the watchmen were all the while dozing as at the time individuals accumulated at the town square.

Of the considerable number of villagers who murmured and groaned at the square, none talked with so much energy and fervency as Fatokun, the one-looked at man who spilled out testing words at the spirits of the land. His eyes were sore with much sobbing and his gripped clench hands beat tirelessly on the ground. An eyewitness who had no information of the meandering apparition's casualty would think Fatokun was the casualty.
Amidst these, the King's errand person came. His sharp voice rang out the King's words,

"The ministers have been told by the divine beings to pacify the spirits of the land. In two market days, this should be done and peace will come back to the land". The general population scattered yet fear lingered palpably like a fog. Not even the lord's words could clear the fog.

The night was blustery. Remaining in the town square was a conceal single figure completely wearing dark, the breeze blowing against its streaming piece of clothing. It appeared to outwardly look over the town after which it strolled in quick walks towards an area of the town. Afterward were two different structures covered up in the shadows.

The two shrouded frames crawled unobtrusively behind it, ceasing at interims to stow away when it made endeavors to look behind. After achieving a hovel, the covered consider came to along with its piece of clothing and drew out an undefined protest. What it did next remained a secret to the two concealed structures yet they heard a sound-a snake's murmur.

All of a sudden, as in three evenings previously, Tayo and Ropo felt a staggering impulse to rest, yet they were readied! Promptly, they ate the herbs given to them by Chief Balogun. Inside seconds, they were alarm again and continued the watch with expanded energetic promptness. They looked as the figure pushed the bamboo entryway open, entered and inside minutes had returned conveying a resting youngster.

They stalked it till it got to the edge of the town where it paused and after five minutes was drawn nearer by two strong men. Unmistakably the meandering apparition was a tyke trafficker and this, Tayo was not amazed to find. He had thought so from the start however what he saw next came as a stun to him. After unmasking itself, Tayo and Ropo about shouted as they saw Fatokun, the one-peered toward man smiling from ear to ear not long after being paid.
