A Near Death Experience gave a man a second go at getting it right ........

in #story5 years ago (edited)

Today I am recounting a man's personal "Near Death Experience" (NDE) story that I saw on the TV show Dr Oz many years ago.

Of late I have been reflecting on what we say and how we say it can hurt other people's feelings. In my reflections this story popped into my mind, it is one that had impacted greatly on me at the time, the reason why I remember it.

First of all, many of the stories of the people telling Dr Oz of their NDEs were very similar, they stopped breathing in a car accident or in surgery etc, found themselves up at the ceiling looking down on their bodies and then floating toward beautiful white light.

They travel though the light to find themselves in the most amazingly surreal place of beauty. They talk with a guide, a parent, a brother or sister etc. who had died. Eventually they are told that it is not their time and must go back.

They all learned that there is life after death and as a result were no longer fearful of dying.

The memorable story told by a man in his 60's had a NDE during a heart attack. He not only talked about going to the light and the other side, he was greeted by a young lady dressed in the fashion of the 18th century. She told him that she was his guide.

She walked with him into a big white marble building where he stood in front of a big scanner and saw his life as a child, a young man and then as a business man. He not only saw how he spoke to his staff and his wife and family, he also heard their thoughts and feelings. He felt their hurt, upset feelings.

His guide gently told him that we are accountable for not only our thoughts, words and actions but also the impact they have on others. This man was shocked, he had no idea that he caused so much upset and hurt. He thought that he lived a good life looking after his family and paying his staff in the business.

Then, the guide told him that he needed to return to Earth, it was not his time. The man was happy to return to Earth, he had learned the most valuable lesson of his life. He had a second chance to get it right. He vowed that he would always be conscious of another person's feelings when speaking.

This man confessed to Dr Oz that he was blessed to have this NDE and as well as righting his behaviours he felt it important to keep sharing his story. He was a changed man.

Cheers and Blessings

There are things we can't control and it's most of the things. What we can do is - perceive them differently.

Very true, I concur. Perceiving things in another way takes a lot of time and effort sometimes. But the trick is to get there.

On his death bed my dear dad seemed to have died but suddenly he came round again and my sister reported that he looked around, felt his arm and said somewhat impatiently, 'why am I still with me?' as though he had returned from some beautiful place and/or experience.
He then drew his last breath and died.
Somehow what he said has comforted me all these years.

How beautiful to have experienced that with you dad. I agree it is very comforting.

Great story Angie. So many of the NDE stories are peacefully and beautiful. I wonder if they ever go the other way and see something not so pleasant.

Hahha, well I think they would be wanting to stay forever.

Oh I love those kind of second chance stories, thank you angiemitchell!

So do I janton. I am glad this man came back to share his message.
