Descriptions on the Spot - Photo Bounty

Special thanks to @zaebars for this fantastic photograph. As always, she manages to capture fantastic moments, especially out at sea. Seems she was born for it :)

This ocean voyage had been exactly what they'd needed. After 50 years of extremely hard work, pushing 60 hour weeks and trying to raise four kids at the same time, they'd finally managed to come away from life with enough saved over to buy a boat and travel around the world. It had been his dream as far back as he could remember, and she'd been more than happy to indulge him. They joked often that, despite the fact she hated being out in water deeper than her waist, she was happy enough with him as a husband to go out into the middle of the ocean.

The boat wasn't the most fantastic boat out on the market, and he'd done that intentionally. Their Krogen 54 was nearly as old as their marriage, but he'd negotiated a fantastic deal on it with its previous owner. More than that, with the money he'd saved out of their boat-buying budget, he'd managed to renovate most of the interior, install new equipment, and even buy a nice memory-foam mattress for the bed. With the boat purchased - and christened the Alexandra, after his wife - and provisions set on board, they'd made their way from North Carolina to sail across Europe through the Mediterranean.

Two months later, here they were, off the coast of France. They'd stopped in Nice to resupply and enjoy the French Riviera for a few days, and now they were back in the crystalline blue of the Med. Alexandra reclined on the fore deck, having pestered Joseph about bringing a fold-out lounger just for that purpose. Joseph, meanwhile, leaned against the railing, staring out into the clear blue below them, a little smile playing across his features. Without a word of warning, he hoisted himself over the railing and stood up. He might have been 68 years old, but he still had more than a little life left in him.

"What are you doing, Joe?" Her dulcet voice, even after 45 years of marriage, made his heart skip a beat.

"Jumpin' into the Med from our boat," he replied, looking over his shoulder with a mischievous grin. "What's it look like, sweetheart?"

She rolled her eyes and shared a laugh with him, before he turned back around. Taking a deep breath, he launched out from the railing and fell toward the picture-perfect sea beneath. In that moment, he finally felt free. All their hard work had paid off, and they were finally free to do whatever they wanted to do, whenever they wanted to do it, wherever they found themselves.

This is living, he thought to himself as he plunged into the crisp, cool water below.
