On September 11, 1931, when Umar Mukhtar made a pilgrimage to the grave of the Prophet's Companion, Ruwaifi 'Bin Thabit r.a in al-Baidha city, Umar Mukhtar was captured by Italian troops.

He was immediately taken prisoner and taken to court to serve as a rebel after struggling for more than 20 years.

At the time of the judgment for Umar, the Judge asked him, "Are you rebelling against Italy?"

"Yeah ..." Umar replied briefly.

"Do you also invite and motivate people to rebel?"

"Yes ..."

"Do you know the consequences of your actions?"

"Are you aware of all your confessions?"

"Yes, I am aware"

"Over 20 years"

"Not at all"

"Do you know that you will be hanged?"

"Yes, I know…"

"You are wrong ... this is the best way to end this life ... !!!" said Umar.

The judge then continues to persuade Umar Mukhtar to regret his actions so that he gets a leniency. The judge also persuaded Umar to write a letter of regret and invite the mujahidin to stop fighting Italy.

"Will you write letters to your followers to stop them against the Italian government?"

Hearing that, Umar Mukhtar said, "In fact, the index finger that every day holds the Tasyahud La Ilah Illallah in prayer, will never write a false sentence !!!"

Finally, the Judge sentenced Umar Mukhtar to death by hanging. At the end of the trial, the judge asked, "What do you think of this punishment?"

Umar replied, "The only law is the law of God, not your law ..."
