There is a quick review of the first part of the story with part 4.
Now for the story
The Mausoleum Part 5
The knocking continues on Victoria’s heavy front door.
She yells through the door for them to leave again and waits. She knows it is Clare as she is a busy body and even dared watch her at the cemetery waiting outside the crypt.
Victoria places her ear to her front door waiting for a reply that never comes.
There’s a thump then distant footsteps, she steps back and opens the door slightly.
Clare has left and in the opening of the door, she spots the edge of a package addressed to her with no return address. She pulls the box inside and bolts the door.
The antique clock on the fireplace chimes a time she can’t ignore. Time to leave for the mausoleum and wait as instructed. The box has to wait.
A carriage is brought around for her at the appointed time. She gets in with anticipation that today will be the long- awaited day.
At last, Victoria arrives at the cemetery runs from the front of the carriage and stands in front staring blankly at the mausoleum door her hands on her heart.
In the distance we see Darius and Paul talking.
Darius, “Come here at once I must have you hand these roses to Victoria. She will not recognize me."
"The energy shift is causing so much human aging, once restored I will reunite with her."
Darius touches his face while lowering his head, "I can't bear her seeing me this way.”
Darius continues speaking while handing Paul the roses, “We must find out what she knows about the orb. I need to find it. Once Victoria knows what has become of her husband we will never succeed in finding the orb.”
Paul starts walking toward Victoria while carrying the roses.
Suddenly a blue light appears to stream into the mausoleum then disappears. Only Darius seems to notice the light and has a slight smile on his face.
Paul approaches Victoria slowly as she stands outside the crypt.
“Madam I have been instructed to give these roses to you.”
Victoria steps back taken by surprise, “Whoever are they from? Did someone send them for my dear husband?”
Paul, “No, Madam the roses are for you from the elderly gentleman and he wants me to tell you he can help.”
Victoria pushes Paul aside and heads toward Darius,
“Let me go to him at once. I need to find out how.”
Darius loses his nerve and turns walking quickly in the opposite direction. He knows now is not the time to speak to Victoria directly.
