L'errore più grande - Her biggest mistake. 300 words story. [ITA-ENG]

Commise l'errore più grande: si voltò a guardarlo.
Non aveva mai pensato di potersi innamorare così improvvisamente e disperatamente di qualcuno.
Ad appena 19 anni aveva già una piccola collezione di errori enormi.
Soprattutto in campo sentimentale: aveva seguito il primo fidanzatino in un sottoscala, e in un antro umido, buio e sporco aveva scoperto che si poteva fare sesso senza volerlo. Il secondo era durato dieci minuti: il tempo di scattarle delle foto e di sputtanarla con tutta la scuola. Il terzo fumava marijuana, e quando la polizia li aveva fermati in macchina per un controllo di routine, le aveva fatto spendere la piccola eredità dei genitori in avvocati: le aveva nascosto sotto il sedile un pacchettino che non avrebbe dovuto esserci.
Il quarto era adorabile, ma non le provocava nessun fremito. Lo lasciò e dopo due mesi si rese conto di essere incinta. Non aveva nessuna intenzione di diventare madre, ma non voleva abortire, anche perché aveva sentito di coppie sterili disposte a pagare fior di quattrini per avere un neonato da crescere come figlio. Non poteva perdere l'occasione, prese accordi con una coppia: vitto e alloggio gratis, fino al termine della gravidanza, poi avrebbe intascato un bel gruzzolo con cui sistemarsi per gli anni a venire. Avrebbe trovato una casa, un lavoro, magari un ragazzo a posto, da non mollare, stavolta...
Alla fine arrivarono le doglie, e quindi il parto in casa, assistita da un team medico privato. La sua metà inferiore era dietro una sorta di sipario. Sentì meno dolore del previsto e non vide nulla. Filò tutto liscio. Il giorno dopo era pronta ad andarsene. Il neopadre la accompagnò alla porta. Era già fuori di casa quando sentì il bisogno di guardarsi indietro: dalla finestra intravide la donna con un essere minuscolo in braccio.

Her biggest mistake: she turned to look at him.
She never thought she could fall in love so suddenly and desperately with someone.
19 years old and she already had a small collection of huge mistakes.
She followed the first boyfriend in a basement, and in a damp, dark and dirty cave she realized that one could have sex without wanting it. The second one lasted ten minutes: the time to take some picture and bitchin’ out her with the whole school. The third one smoked marijuana. After the police stopped them for a routine check, she wasted the little inheritance of her parents in lawyers: he had hidden under the seat a small package that should not have been there.
The fourth one was nice, but he didn’t give her any thrill. She left him. After two months she realized she was pregnant. She neither wanted to be mother, nor to abort. She knew about sterile couples willing to pay money for a baby to grow up as their child. She couldn’t miss the chance, she signed an agreement: free food and lodging until the end of the pregnancy, then she would pocket a lot of dough to get settled for years to come. Soon she would have a home, a job, maybe a nice guy, not to give up, this time ...
Finally the labor came, and then the birth, assisted by a private medical team. Her lower half was behind a sort of curtain. She felt less pain than expected and she saw nothing. Everything went smoothly. Soon she was ready to leave. The new father accompanied her to the door. She was already out when she felt the need to look back: through the window, she saw the woman with a tiny child in her arms.
