Una storia corta, il Dr. Sergio e il signor Gianni - A short story, Dr. Sergio and mister Gianni (ITA-ENG)

Dr. Sergio read the test results and stared Gianni straight in the eyes: " Mr. Gianni, you must immediately stop drinking alcohol, your liver is near a collapse". Gianni looked down towards the pavement and said : "You're right, Doc, I'll never touch a glass again". They shoke hands and Sergio exited the door.......and started walking towards the Pub, tonight there was a Boxing match, and he and his friends had a contest on who could drink more.

When Gianni entered the saloon, everybody gave him a big hello: "How many litres will you drink tonight", asked one of his drunken friends sitting in a corner.

At 10 p.m. the boxing match was already at the 7th round, Gianni and his friends wiped out about ten mugs of beer, when they heard someone falling to the ground..... it was him, Dr. Sergio.
"AhAhAh" all the people in the Pub, that were his patients, started laughing.

Il Dottor Sergio lesse i risultati delle analisi, e guardò Gianni dritto negli occhi: "Signor Gianni, lei deve smettere immediatamente di bere alcolici, il suo fegato è vicino al collasso!!!" Gianni volse lo sgardo in basso, verso il pavimento, e disse: "Ha ragione, dottore, non toccherò mai più un bicchiere". Si strinsero la mano e Sergio uscì dalla porta.....e iniziò a camminare verso il Pub: stasera c'era l'incontro di Boxe, e lui e i suoi amici si sfidavano a chi beveva di più.

Quando Gianni entrò nel locale, tutti lo salutarono ; "Quanti litri ne bevi stasera?" chiese uno dei suoi amici ubriaconi seduto nell'angolo.

Alle 22 l'incontro era già al settimo round, Gianni e i suoi amici avevano fatto fuori una decina di boccali di birra, quando sentirono qualcuno cadere per terra; tutti si avvicinarono per vedere chi era....ma era lui , il dottor sergio.
"AhAhAh" tutte le persone presenti nel locale, che erano suoi pazienti, iniziarono a ridere.

It reminds me of the real world. We lie to our doctors and lie to ourselves about the exercise we didn’t do and the food and drink we should never have eaten.

“I know a man who is over 100 years old and smokes like a chimney. It proves smoking isn’t bad”

Reply: “I know 5 people who are 100 because they never smoked”
