Stormlord - the fist time of "Marenostrum" Live -Gods of Metal 2008 , Bologna Italy-

In 2008 the Stormlord ascended the stage of the Gods of metal, the most important Italian festival, for the third time. Their fourth album, Marenostrum, came out a few days before.
Among the songs on the track list they played a still too unknown "Marenostrum", for the first time played. The audience responded satisfied with the long-awaited album and their compatriot band, one of the few flagships of that great Italian festival.

Strong of the output of Mare Nostrum, the Capitol Stormlord are presented on the stage of Gods Of Metal with a slightly altered formation due to the absence of the keyboard player Simone Scazzocchio. The minutes available are just over twenty and the Roman group decides to focus the whole set only on the pieces extracted from the new album.

And that's how the sound of a sitar introduces the furious Legacy Of The Snake performed by a band that proves to be a real guarantee in the live venue. Cristiano Borchi's rabid screaming and David Folchitto's precise drumming lead the way. Another proof worthy of note is that of bassist Francesco Bucci: impeccable performance at the rhythmic level and great charisma when, between a pause and the other, one improvises narrator to present the proposed pieces.

Perfect execution then, helped by sounds set very well (as it will be for almost all the groups of the day, Testament excluded ...). The only flaw lies in the few minutes available and in the far too low position in the lineup, for a band with all these years of experience behind it would have expected a position more "rewarding". But despite everything, the group does not give up and manages to continue his show by proposing to the public of bologna two other new pieces such as the violent And The Wind Shall Be My Name and all the epic fury of the title-track of the new album, Mare Nostrum. Engaging and convivial as never before, but it is certainly not new.
