The Cutest Monkeys in all of Asia
These have to be the grooviest little monkeys found anywhere. Unlike the nasty macaques which are found all over South East Asia, the Dusky Langur is an altogether different creature.
The Dusky Langur, aka Dusky Leaf Money, aka Spectacled Langur
A nearly threatened species, the Langurs are only found in small pockets of Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar, and they really are the cutest thing. These guys live in a small area on an army base at the foot of Khao Lommuak (Mount Lommuak). I prefer to call these guys the "Mellow Mountain Monkeys", as opposed to the "Fangy Devils" who live about 5 kilometres up the road and will be the topic of my next post. They are very gentle and will happily jump on and off your shoulder or head with little fuss as they move around their habitat.
One of the coolest things is that although the adults are a greyish/black in colour, the babies are bright Jaffa Orange. They look like little ounk-rocker monkeys, but are just the sweetest things. Their colour changes after a few months.
