Agricultural Tech is a very hot sector to invest in and it is ecological !
Skyscraper Farms Are About to Go Global
Japan’s Spread will open its new Techno Farm in November, the world’s largest indoor or vertical farm (known in Japan as plant factories).
The farm will produce 11m lettuce a year (30,000 per day) in a controlled, indoor environment where lighting, temperature and humidity are optimised for growth and flavour profile. Annual yields per square metre are 120x those of an outdoor farm.
This is Spread’s second indoor farm but unlike its first, it is almost entirely automated with most tasks performed by robots.
LEDs and automation are expected to push Techno Farm’s costs towards those of outdoor farms (field parity) by 2023, a goal no indoor farm has yet achieved.
Comments
Vertical farming is one of the most exciting technologies.
In the last 12 months, investment and interest has increased dramatically, helped in part by US indoor farmer, Plenty, achieving unicorn status post an investment round led by Softbank.
Vertical farming, however, is likely to remain a niche part of agriculture, focused on high value vegetable/herb crops and cannabis.
Outside of cannabis, however, there are few listed plays yet on the technology.
One third of Brits cutting down on meat, Waitrose survey finds
According to British supermarket Waitrose’s Food and Drink Report 2018-19, 33.5% of the UK population are cutting down on or cutting out meat from their diet, with stated reasons including concerns about animal welfare, health, and the environment.
Meanwhile, Sky News reports that demand for meat-free food in supermarkets increased by 987% last year.
The report also says “88% of us have changed how we use plastics after viewing the final episode of Blue Planet”, which translates into 60% of respondents being more likely to use a refillable water bottle, and 66% of 18-24 year old being more likely to opt for a reusable coffee cup.

Interesting, publicly traded? How to invest in this one...
Except in weed stocks or Agricultural LED, I do not really know to be honest.

I have been reading about vertical farming...a very fragmented business at this point. Also, looks like I need to watch the last episode of Blue Planet.
Thank you for stopping by. Is Blue planet about Vertical farming?
