About Robinhood

Robinhood.com was founded by Vlad Tenev, and Baiju Bhatt. The pair were roommates, and classmates, at Stanford about a decade ago. One day they decided to Wall Street where they discovered that the existing brokerages pay next to nothing for trades and yet charge their customers up to $10 per trade. The pair decided to build a platform that was simple, efficient, and mobile, and make the costs for trades FREE.

Robinhood.com also offers cryptocurrency trading in selected States (California, Massachusetts, Missouri, Montana, and New Hampshire).

Starting in February, Robinhood Crypto supports buying, selling and real-time market data for:

Bitcoin (BTC)
Ethereum (ETH)

Robinhood Crypto also supports real-time market data for the following:

Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Bitcoin Gold (BTG)
Dash (DASH)
Dogecoin (DOGE)
Ethereum Classic (ETC)
Lisk (LSK)
Litecoin (LTC)
Monero (XMR)
NEO (NEO)
OmiseGO (OMG)
Qtum (QTUM)
Ripple (XRP)
Stellar (XLM)
Zcash (ZEC)

Signing up for Robinhood.com is easy. Right now you can only trade via the mobile app but Robinhood Web is coming soon with over a million people already signed up for it.

Customer Service

opihi_3.jpg
Customer Service is only done via their website and email. They do have a phone number (650)940-2700 but all you get is a recording that tells you to use the website. The response seems to be only during the trading day but we don't know for sure. We would feel more comfortable with a customer service voice line if we were to put a lot of money into it.

Ease of Use

opihi_5.jpg
The app is the easiest stock trading app that we have ever used. There are real time quotes, and charts (don't expect a lot of charting features). The speed is amazing and the notifications are awesome.

Reliability

opihi_5.jpg
We have had no problems with the performance of the brokerage since we started using it a few months ago. We even had a slow down (not crash) with our Schwab account, and Robinhood worked flawlessly.

Value

opihi_5.jpg
The value is amazing. Not only do you get free trades, but you also get a free stock (chosen randomly by a three card pick'em game). There is also a referral program where you get a free stock for each person that signs up. (We got GRPN and CHK) for our free stocks

Overall Rating 22/25 - 88%

We have been trading stocks for decades and we have had to change our trading strategy to account for the zero fees. This allows us to buy small amounts (even one share) of low priced stocks to not only test strategies, but also minimize risk. We love Robinhood.com and highly recommend it.

If you are going to set up an account and would like to help us out please click here to sign up.
