High Dividend Yield YTD Performance (NYMT, CMFN, & CNSL)

Introduction
In this post, I wanted to present three graphs. The first graph shows the dividend yield for companies that have high dividend yields. The second graph shows the year to date returns of each of the 3 companies. The third graph shows the year to date performance of each of the 3 companies (current stock price + dividends / stock price as of January 1). As demonstrated by the third graph, New York Mortgage Trust and CM Finance have performed the best of the three stocks, but none of the stocks have performed particularly well compared to some of the other stocks examined.

I'm a big fan of MIC. Bought the dip a few months back and plan on holding this as a dividend income stock for a while. One of the biggest dividends out there and in a sector that will see significant investment over the next few years.
I am unfamiliar with MIC. Personally, I like to invest in index & mutual funds specializing in various areas of the stock/bond markets. For my high dividend fund, I like the Vanguard Dividend Growth fund (VDIGX).
Don't get me wrong, index funds are good for people who dont have the time or expertise to really go all in on a handful of stocks yet want to go after a growth/div/sector strategy.
Give MIC a look though. An interesting player in a sector that should see massive investment in the near future.
I'll have to check it out.
