West Gate

Built during the British Raj, the Gateway of India was built to honour the arrival of King George V and Queen Mary in India. The archway of the monument is 26 metres high. It is built of basalt. Earlier it was used as the arrival point for the visitors from the west. This mesmerising monument was completed and inaugurated in 1924.
