Oil drops due to postponement of OPEC + emergency meeting

After rising sharply by 30% last week to record its best week ever, black gold was down more than 3% at the time of writing, following reports that the emergency meeting OPEC + originally scheduled for today has been postponed to Thursday. The meeting comes after a price war that has pushed oil to the lowest level in 18 years and a tweet from President Trump that Saudi Arabia and Russia will quickly strike a deal to end it.

Headlines: international markets on the rise

Futures contracts are moving towards a solid opening on Wall Street: the US markets closed lower on Friday as the DJ30, the SPX500 and the NSDQ100 all closed lower by at least 1.5%. However, Wall Street is expected to recover at the opening today as the futures indicate a rise of 900 points for the DJ30.

Bitcoin is approaching 7000: the cryptocurrency market has shown relatively low volatility this weekend and slight gains in the past 24 hours. At the time of writing, the majority of cryptocurrencies were in the green, including Bitcoin, which was up about 2%, trading above the $ 6,900 mark.

Asian markets are up: the JPN225 index was up almost 4% this morning, joined by the HKG50 and China50 indices which also recorded considerable gains. Banks in China are closed today because it is a public holiday.
