Update on Stimulus Checks: 8 States Receiving Payments This Month.

In the face of widespread inflation that has strained household budgets across the country and left Americans struggling with food, gas, and housing expenses, eight states are getting ready to implement direct payments to assist residents.

The Commerce Department last week announced a second consecutive quarter of economic contraction, which many analysts use as the straightforward definition of a "recession" despite opposition from the administration of President Joe Biden and some economists who prefer to wait for the National Bureau of Economic Research to make the official declaration. This is why there is relief this month.

Some governors are offering rebates to ease the stress of inflation while U.S. politicians argue over the state of the economy. See below for a list of the states and residents that qualify for an August payment:
Since May, Delaware has started sending one-time $300 relief cheques to every adult resident who has submitted their 2021 tax return, and it will keep doing so throughout the summer. Joint filers will each be compensated once. For the payment to be received, no more action is necessary. The resident may check the status of their rebate.
