OH Gives Slaps on Wrists to Steubenville Rapists (No Justice)
This post is meant to inform the public about the gross lack of justice taking place in Ohio. Here’s the deal: The two rapists who victimized a teenaged girl in Steubenville are being given slaps on the wrists, and the OH Justice System (or lack thereof), has made sure to give the absolute minimum sentences out to these two devils. People caught with bags of weed which they planned to smoke have had harsher sentences given to them; unfortunately, these two rapists: Trent Mays and Ma’Lik Richmond are treated as the darlings of the court system, and have even been given the chance to play college ball. These two should have been given the death sentence!
Here are the news stories straight from Ohio:
One of two teens convicted in a 2012 rape case in Steubenville, Ohio, that got national attention will attend Hocking College and play on the newly created football team, President Betty Young announced in an email... Trent Mays was the quarterback for Steubenville High School at the time of the incident in August 2012, where he and another player, Ma’Lik Richmond, were videotaped with the unconscious 16-year-old victim during an alcohol-fueled party, and later convicted of rape... “After his release from juvenile detention, Trenton transferred to Indian Creek High School and graduated with honors in 2015; he has the opportunity to attend any open enrollment college in Ohio. Everyone deserves a second chance.” Hocking College President Betty Young wrote.
"Judge Thomas Lipps scheduled a hearing Thursday in juvenile court in Steubenville in the case of former high school football player Ma'Lik Richmond. Richmond, now 21, was convicted in 2013 of raping the West Virginia girl at a party that followed a football scrimmage the previous year... A second juvenile (Trent Mays) convicted in the crime served a two-year sentence. His attorneys plan a similar request in the future... (Ma'Lik Richmond) served a one-year sentence and later rejoined the Steubenville football team. He went on to play at Youngstown State University" http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2018/04/former_steubenville_football_p.html
"STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- High School football players Ma'lik Richmond, 16, and Trent Mays, 17, both addressed the court after being found guilty of raping a 16-year-old West Virginia girl in a case that has gained worldwide attention.... Judge Thomas Lipps sentenced both teens to a minimum of one year in jail. Mays received an extra year for possessing a nude photo of the victim."
"The influence of Internet “hacktivists,” added pressure to charge more people, ensure the trial was fair.Special prosecutors from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office arguedthe girl got drunk with her friends, so drunk that she was carried around by two boys from home to home while vomiting repeatedly, and raped when she was too inebriated to say “yes” or "no" to sexual activity."
