ELECTRICITY

INTRODUCTION

Electricity can be defined as the current that flows in amperes. The electricity supply to most home is 220-240 volts(where ohms law come in operation.) As a service technician, you should understand the fundamental of electricity.

Most lighten appliances uses 120v(it will still pickup) but refrigeration and air-conditioning system uses 240volts.

The presence of an electric charge, which can be either positive or negative, produces an electric field. The movement of electric charges is an electric current and produces a magnetic field. source

In refrigeration and air condition, types of electricity used are as follows;
1)Static electricity.
2)Current electricity.

1)Static electricity; Is defined as electricity at rest
2)Current electricity; Is the electricity flowing through a conductor(wires)

Types of electric power supplies.
1)Direct current power supply.
2)Alternating power supply.
3)Single phase alternating power supply.
4)Three phase alternating power supply.

Effect of electricity.
1)Chemical effect.
2)Magnetic effect.
3)Physiological effect.(effect on body)
4)Heating effect

CONDUCTORS AND INSULATORS.

Conductors

Conductor are bodies or materials that will readily permit easy flow of electricity through them. A conductor must always be properly insulated in order to prevent electricity when exposed. The type of insulation used for conductor must have highest resistance, so as to keep the flow of electricity within the conductor.

All metals and alloys are good conductors of electricity, but out of all the metals, silver is regarded as the best conductor of electricity, the reason is because silver offers the best resistance to the flow of electricity as compared to any metal. Conductor is commonly used by the electricity and other technicians, when referring to cables which convey electric current from one point to another.

NOTE:
I)Earth is also a good conductor of electricity, especially when its wet(I.e during the rainy season.)
ii)Power companies make use of aluminium for their transmission lines because of its light in weight, which allows ions spans between towers and poles.

Insulators.

Insulators are bodies that do not allow the flow of electricity through them. In other words, it is the opposite if conductor. Insulation must be flexible, and tough in order to withstand bending and handling. It must be water proof and be able to withstand heat.

The following list of bodies are the efficient insulators in common use; slate oil(used in transformers) porcrain, shellar, dry leather, ebonite, dry paper, mila, wool silk, amber, sealing wax.

ELECTRICAL MEASURING INSTRUMENT AND THEIR USES.

1)Ammeter

This is the instrument used for measuring the strength of current in amperes. It is usually connected in series into a circuit to measure the current flowing through it.

2)Ohmeter:

This single purpose instrument with its wide range and multiple seals, providing fine accuracy while checking resistance measurement over a number of product found in the appliance industry. It can be used to check the resistance of an element as well as resistance of winding of compressor.

3)Wattmeter: This instrument is useful in determining the wattage which an electrical power device consumes.

4)Voltmeter

This special test instrument has been designed and made available for field service men. Making home repair calls on major appliances such as refrigerators, freezer. Etc. Its a dual purpose instrument that permits the checking of both voltage and resistance measurement.

5)Voltwatt meter: This instrument is used to read volts and watts, simultaneously for amperage reading. It also shows faulty power line wiring.

6)Potential meter: Is one of the most useful instrument for the accurate measurement of potential difference, current and resistance.

7)Dynamometer: Is suitable for use with both direct current and alternating current as voltmeter.

This is a decent attempt but some way off the requirement for steemstem curation. Why dont you get someone to mentor you in the steemstem discord channel? It will dfinitely go a long way and mentorship is free. :)

Ok sir thanks for d encouragement.. I would be happy if i got tution from you, please whats your discord username?

same name here. just tag me in the general channel of steemstem

Ok sir thanks for your help...i have done so

That's awesome :)

I'd only like to point out where you said electricity in most homes are 220V, well I'd say it depends on where the home is located! If the home is in the United States of America, the voltage level is 110V at 60Hz. Thank you

Yes sir....i appreciate, thank you for stopping by...thanks for your review

nice post bro..keep up the good work
one day steemstem will visit your post.

Steemstem will surely visit your post if you follow the rules. It is a community that sees everyone equally so long you are doing the right thing. You should join the discord server as suggested by @mrbreeziewrites on your article about EYE cos it seems to me you need directions on steemstem yourself.

Best wishes!

@vickrich, your intentions are clear to me, but i will advice that you step up the quality of your article. Perhaps you could have a friend proof-read it before you post it.

I observed that the body of your article was not in correlation with the title. Anyone who sights the title at first will believe he will be reading something that throws light on the electrical aspects of refrigeration which you did not do.

Also you get credible sources to get better information on whatever you wnat to write. i could spot some error in your write-up. Like where you mention that silver is a good conductor because it offers the best resistance.

All metals and alloys are good conductors of electricity, but out of all the metals, silver is regarded as the best conductor of electricity, the reason is because silver offers the best resistance to the flow of electricity as compared to any metal.

Please see to this advice. Thanks.

Thank you sir for ur feedback...

You are welcome. You could as well message me on discord if you need any help. My steemit name is my discord name.
