There are three fields targeted to start its inaugural production. The third field is, Field Alan Siwah, Alur Rambong and Julu Rayeu.
The three fields could produce 63 billion British thermal unit gas per day (BBtud) which is expected to start gas flowing in 2018.
"Medco E & P Malaka together with its contractors is continuing to meet the gas production target in Block A in the first quarter of 2018. The progress of the Block A project until August 2017 has reached approximately 55% of the completion target," he said.
Previously, President Director of PT Medco Energi International, Tbk, Hilmi Panigoro said that the three fields still hold the potential of about 2 to 3 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of untapped gas.
In fact, according to him, gas from both fields can generate electricity about 1,000 to 1,200 mega watt (MW) within 15 years.
The development of this gas field has several challenges in terms of the complexity of high pressure and high temperature substrate that also contains carbon dioxide (CO2). As a result, the development requires high technology and precisely so that the costs incurred can be efficient.
He also considered the necessary incentives to maintain return on investment, so that the field can be monetized.
If the field can be developed, the people of Aceh will not only enjoy gas supplies but also new jobs, new investors downstream and accelerate development.
Therefore, it is in talks with the Agency of Oil and Gas Management of Aceh (BPMA), the Government of Aceh and the Central Government for the development of both fields can be accelerated.
