What a way to start the new year!
Not only did Stellar cement it's place at number 9 on CoinMarketCap, it battled it out with NEM for the number 8 position and briefly obtained it!
As of 23:47 GMT Stellar is currently sitting at $0.5020 with a percentage increase of 40.350% from this time yesterday according to CoinMarketCap.com Source: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/stellar/

Is $0.3576 / $0.5209 breaking the previous record high of $0.3576.
Stellar Ranking
Stellar briefly took the number 8 position on coinmarketcap.com rankings overtaking NEM. NEM has since retaken the top 8 position but as of 11:50 GMT the difference is $0.7 Billion.

Personal Opinion
The Last 24 hours have been a joy to watch. Not only did Stellar break the 50 cents mark, it broke into the number 8 position so soon after breaking into the top 10. Now of course a correction is coming. While Stellar is still under valued in my humble opinion, the recent surge doesn't have the necessary support to be maintained. A correction isn't that bad and can give people time to get a great price on Stellar before the next jump in price.

Glad I could spread the word @eroche! The Stellar subreddit is very active and they post a lot of great links there. It can be a bit too optimistic at times but all in all, its a good starting point for further research.

Do you think right now would be a good time to sell stellar in anticipation of the coming correction?
First off, you need to make a decision based on how risk adverse you are, but personally I think this bull run has a bit more to go. I'm not selling just yet anyway. Good luck man!
