This is the western part of Texas. There is much life out that way but it's more desert like. It actually gets cold out that way. Some people just don't know that the landscape in Texas has mountains too depending on where you go.
I have never seen it with my own eyes. Can't imagine that it gets cold there. However, that also explains the lack of plant life -> roots and fruits don't grow in cold dry soil!
