I feel the islanders are very similar with small town folks in my hometown in Peninsular, they would probably favour a familiar face rather than someone new even though the person has experience.

The DS Amir would probably have a bit of a challenge in the beginning, but hopefully with his experience he will be able to prove the locals otherwise.

That would be a hope for everyone who wishes Labuan to move forward in economy and sustainability.
