Amazing travelogue.
I'm saddened that small country towns decline when industries move out, and then tourists and travellers are bypassed due to freeways and so on. Happens a bit here in Australia too. I've lived in a regional area where towns simply disappear altogether. Especially when there are truly historic buildings.

This is what happened to Route 66 here in the states. So many towns were bypassed by the new highways that many towns died. Fortunately, Route 66 is so popular many of the towns have reasons for people to come visit. It is one of the reasons we travel on roads that are not the main highways once we get to an area we have not explored.
Because of this, we try hard to tell the stories of these places with our posts. It's important to keep that history alive.
