Christmas tree lights
Over the course of the last 20 years or so our Hospital has grown from looking like a strip mall to a hospital. Today it continues to grow and expand and is pretty much a full fledged modern day hospital. This was not the nicest day or time to get pictures, but it was the time I had available. It would have been nice if it was a clear sky, dark night and not an overcast drizzly 20 degree fahrenheit kind of day, all day long. I have never understood how it could snow at 36 degrees, let alone drizzle (very light rain) at 20 degrees; but it does happen, at least in Alaska.
As I mentioned above it was not that nice of a day, and well, water and digital camera's don't really go to well together, and I did not want to take a chance on getting my camera wet. So this shot is looking down the street from one of the Hospital Exits. Every remodel they do to the Hospital they try to make a nice exterior remodel also. Several years ago they did a lot of tree planting. Those trees have grown from just 4 foot starters to pretty nice sized ones now. Every year they string holiday lights on all of the trees and they are nice to look at as you drive by or on those nice days are able to walk by them.
I think that by doing a good job on maintaining the appearance of the outside that it adds just that one little extra boost of a person's confidence in the Hospital and its staff. The interior of the hospital has undergone a little bit of a remodel this summer also as they prep for another expansion.
Winter in Alaska is so magical... and cold, but also magical. ^_^
How pretty. To bad these trees didn't naturally have lights like these.
You got me beat since you actually have snow! ;) There's just something fun about snow at Christmas-time, though here in Georgia that rarely happens. That's great that the hospital has taken care to keep the grounds nice. I'm sure it's a small boost to be surrounded by festive decorations when you have to go in and work hard for a long shift of caring for others!
