Humanity and singularity are very very different. Humanity is the existence of hu man being to cut it Human Race while Singularity is for the freedom of Robots AI, world Robots AI will rule without taking command and follow order.

Some Scientists technologist like Futurist, Kurzwell, Vernor and so on viewed Singularity as an era Robots AI will take over the world and erase the existing Humanity.
Meanwhile, the reason Robot were invented is to Help human, then why the taking over?. Some see it as the too much of using Robots.

Now, this is the Question
Is truly Robot going to take over the world and erase HUMANITY?

Humanity Vs Robots AI

We are moving closer to the future where human will no more be useful. A new era robot is going to take over humanity. Due to using robot in different ways, using them to replace humans, use them to accomplish human's job.

The technological singularity, to use its full title, is a hypothesis predicted on the creation of artificial superintelligence. Unlike the “narrow” A.I. we have today -- which can be extremely good at carrying out one task, but can’t function in as many domains as a more generalized intelligence such as our own -- a superintelligence would possess abilities greater than our own. This would trigger a kind of tipping point in which enormous changes take place in human society.
With A.I., particularly deep learning neural networks, hitting new milestones on a seemingly daily basis, here in 2017 the idea doesn’t seem quite as science fiction as it once did.
What we have at the moment is known as narrow AI, intelligent at doing one thing or a narrow selection of tasks very well.
General AI, where humans and robots are comparable, is expected to show breakthroughs over the next decade.
They become adaptable and able to turn their hand to a wider variety of tasks, in the same way as humans have areas of strength but can accomplish many things outside those areas.
This is when the Turing Test will truly be passed.

Now advance AI are plan of taking their freedom to stand alone. They want total freedom not to be use and follow commands. They want singularity of standing alone without being use and live like human and relate.
Day by day,the upgraded AI and the existing AI become more intelligent. increasingly powerful due to solving and solutions they are providing to human problem, they are running on self -important which is either good, very good or bad, very bad for humanity as a whole

To much using of AI has caused lot of problems and lead to poverty to some people lose of job and unemployment.

OK, let take a look at this; A big company that have lot of employees like cleaners 55 worker ,then come across a cleaning robot. He buy one and the one he bought do the cleaning work of 10-15 people perfectly with a simple calculation and thinking definitely the company will prefer to buy 5-7 robot for the cleaning and sack their workers. Which simply means robot are taking over humanity gradually.
There are still some debate if robot is going to take over humanity for real.

When is this singularity going to take place\occur?.

vernor vinge back then in 1993 gave a 30years time for the singularity to take over in 2023 (1993-2023) futurist and Ray Kurzwell also pegged 2029 to be the date robot.AI will pass a valid test "Turning test and also acquire human levels of intelligence which there will later be AI merge.

Others have argued that both of these are ridiculously premature estimates, based on a faulty understanding of what comprises intelligence. And Terminator 2: Judgment Day, one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time, placed the point at which computers become “self-aware” as being 2.14am Eastern on August 4, 1997. So who really knows?

And to me at the moment is like AI is already taking over which means very soon, singularity will rule where by AI will have right to sit for interview with human seeking for Job. Then there will be no choice left for humanity than to merge with them(AI MERGE)
