Coffee and Philosophy: Scarcity
In the past, I have spoken to those I chose to be intimate with about those walls we build up to protect ourselves, and the more time I spend breaking down mental blocks and self limiting beliefs, I feel those walls are thrown up in vain. The only reason to really put up walls to "protect" ourselves against those we care about is because we are living in fear and illusion. We don't see the world as it is, we see the world as we are, and if we are guarded and jaded and afraid of losing everything and everyone that matter to us, we inherently will. People can only put up with so much push and pull, or "hot and cold," behavior from us before they eventually just move on. It's interesting how many people don't realize they do this and I was clearly no different until I became aware of it. Live a life of abundance or live a life of scarcity and fear. It's up to us to decide and it's entirely based on mindset. Namaste.
I once read a quote I don't remember exactly: Live a life like Epicurus is watching you. Epicureanism is a beautiful simplification of life's problems and fears. Almost utopistic from today's point of view. His ataraxia - freedom from fear and aponia - the absence of pain pretty much should be one's 2 major foundations for a pleasant life. Your post made me remember it, thanks, upvoted!
Thanks for giving me something new to look up. :)
Welcome! He's one of the greatest Greek philosophers and his topics are studied on the universities. I enjoy it's simplicity and complexity at the same time. Even if you are totally new to philosophy it will be perfectly understandable to coprehend and if you are more complex you will find yourself arguing with a 2.3 millenia dead man lol, still a great topic to think and read about.
Self-awareness is like discovering candy - anyone who knows what its like to experience it for the first time just wants more and more.
Except self-awareness won't make you fat.

i think its shaming that we are AFRAID of.
The only person who ever made me feel any shame was myself.

Nice revealing post @clayboyn Thanks.
We all have psychic blocks, which can be lowered with our intent -Tio Andy, Cherokee Medicine Man
The walls we construct, the mental blocks and self limiting beliefs are but 'masks' and create this false illusion of safety,
which may be required, as reinforcement to the naturally occurring psychic ones. Namaste.
Sometime I think write on steemit is also a way to protect ourselves from contact people directly. Do not need to see their face or body language.
In order to become aware that we are even doing this (building up walls) we obviously have to come to that realization by ourself. But in order for that realization to get triggered from within, some sort of major event usually has to happen first, i.e.: the death of a loved one, a cancer diagnosis, a near-death experience, etc. It doesn't occur on its own for most people, unfortunately.
