taboo topics are absurd today with all the information available everywhere but are part of social ingeneering - setting borders (storytelling: masturbating - one goes blind...) just like laws. restricting the access to the unknown (or harmful) to consolidate a moral standard.
i agree with you that this repressive practice should end to let as choose freely our identity but with caution, becouse with no culture in those areas we'll set the rules (and taboos) for the next to come.
