Steemit developers led by Dan Larimer are currently funding a massive development effort to add new features

One thing unique about Steemit is that it's a self funding platform. Recently Dan Larimer posted:

> dan · 3 days ago Devs are paying to hire a bigger team and bring more features. That is different than cashing out. We are still investing heavily.

13,168.574

And the rumor is that a 1% stake was sold by Dan Larimer to fund development of Steem going into the future. This money will go to hiring new developers to add new features. I hope that at least one of these new features is improvements to UI/UX. I hope gamification features are added to make Steemit much more sticky.

Dan Larimer has experience working directly for a blockchain. When he worked for the Bitshares blockchain he was seen as a rational and responsible steward in the community. He is known to be capable of making tough decisions, and has a very strong track record in hiring competent developers. The one area where Bitshares did not do so well was in marketing but fortunately the efforts to fund marketing is decentralized.

Guess what else? We can decentralize the effort to fund development so that the burden is not only on Dan Larimer

A requested feature should be multisig ownership of Steemit accounts to help with crowdfunding in the future but for now if anyone is a developer then nothing prevents competent developers from offering services in exchange for upvotes. It would be nice for example if a competent developer could build something similar to Huginn. Giving everyone the power to utilize bots or agents would be quite useful and I see some movements in that direction already.

Huginn looks aw some have you played with it? and what language would you need to know to hack on it?

This is great that Dan is investing his own Steem stake into the development of Steem. An influx of talented devs will be greatly beneficial for the platform. Who knows what super innovative feature someone will think and implement into the blockchain which may explode it to the mainstream!

It is really a secure feeling that the devs are doing so much and pumping out so many features into Steem. This is goona be huge!!

this is good news

Looks like #Steemit becomes complex and developing ecosystem. I hope Bitshares also will go up.

It's great to see the Steemit developers are going all out. This certainly deserves it. It'd be a shame if the execution doesn't live up to the massive promise.

Hi @dana-edwards this is great news. But i did not like the fact that the price dropped significantly because of this .

I can understand you don't like the price drop but in the long term this should add a lot of value to steem.

I'd love to talk to them at some point. There's a lot of work that needs to be done.
