Hi @scienceblocks. Great post. I've always been interested in studies that manage to make a model organism live longer. I know a lot of stuff has been done in C. elegans.

It does make some sense that simply a lower metabolism would result in less cellular growth which in turn would mean a lower total number of DNA replications, and hence a lower accumulation of mutations. I've also read studies that suggest slower growth results in a lower frequency of DNA mutations. I'm guessing this is because growth stressful and when a cell grows/replicates as quickly as possible, the extra stress might make DNA repair more difficult. Either way, there is still a lot we don't know about this.
