NIGHTMARES AND CAUSES

Nightmares are bad dreams, sometimes alive, that often make you wake up.
Once awakened from a nightmare, you may have trouble getting back to sleep, either due to additional anxiety or as part of a larger, broken sleep problem.
The word nightmare comes from the ancient English folklore " Mare ", a demon that torments its victims with bad dreams.
Nightmares are common, especially in young children, although it also occurs in adults. They are completely normal and can appear and disappear in time. Nightmares only become a problem when they are frequent. The official medical term for frequent recurring nightmares is the nightmarish disorder.
dreams are a window to our unconscious and a manifestation of our desires and anxieties ."
In other words, when dreaming our mind is free of prejudices, our unconscious is shown as we are, without any taboos. When we wake up from our nightmares, we wake up with a blurred mind. We do not usually remember everything that happened to us, our mind only recapitulates small passages of that adventure that our unconscious has had, but what do they try to tell us?

What causes nightmares?
Nightmares can be caused by physical sleep disturbances, such as:
- An uncomfortable sleep position
- Eat before bed.
- Diseases.
- Certain medications
- Alcohol.
- The caffeine.
- Nightmares are often caused by fear of the anxiety experienced in the waking life. This can be caused by seeing something of fear on television like an horror movie, or simply by having worrying thoughts.
Recurrent nightmares can be attributed to a deep concern linked to constant anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress disorder.
mentions that the nightmares are useful because it makes people react so that they take the reins of their life and begin to question about the matters that they have to address immediately.

How to stop having nightmares
Here are 4 steps you can take to end the recurring nightmares.
Good sleep hygiene
Sleep hygiene refers to your sleep habits. The better your sleep hygiene, the easier you can sleep well all night. Dreams happen in REM, the stage where sleep is very light. With good sleep habits, you increase the amount of time spent in deep restorative sleep, and less in the stages of lighter sleep.
Sleep hygiene can be improved by concentrating on these three key areas:
Sleep time -
Going to bed and getting up at the same time every day.
Positive sleep mentality -
Have a relaxed mind that allows you to enter a deep sleep without worry.
Good sleep environment -
A comfortable environment to sleep, free from disturbances.
Young children can find a comforting stuffed toy because they encourage them after a nightmare.

Discover the meaning of your dream
The psychologist Carl Jung, who was a pioneer in the study of dream analysis, describes them as a way for your subconscious to alert you to the areas of your life that require your attention. For example, the lack of a boat or airplane in your dreams is commonly understood to be caused by a feeling of missing an opportunity.
By understanding and recognizing the message of your dream, if you fulfill the purpose, you eliminate the need for the dream to happen again.
Test of images
Image testing is a technique to produce an alternative ending to nightmares so that they are less afraid and more like regular dreams.
Alternative outcome plan -
Be creative and imaginative to arrive at a positive outcome. You could be invincible with the ability to teleport, fly or become very important in relation to what is scaring you.
Rehearse this new result at least once during the day. Make it as vivid and realistic as possible, imagining what you see, touch, smell and what you hear at each step.
Finally, try the new result once more before going to bed.
The image essay helps prepare you for the nightmare where you put yourself in the role of the creator. Only the positive perspective of doing this may be enough to prevent it from occurring in the first place.
Cognitive behavioral therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy is a combination of:
- Talk about the problem.
- Understand why they are happening from a medical point of view.
- Reevaluate your thought patterns.
It is usually done over a series of sessions with a doctor or a psychologist, but you can also get many of the benefits of cognitive-behavioral therapy by just talking about problems with a friend or family member, or by re-evaluating your own thought patterns with a hypnosis.

Im wondering if i would have a nightmare after reading this post.
Do you think it is normal for one not to dream at all?
Yeah, it is normal.. But sometimes we wake up forgetting our dreams making us look like we have none
This is great, am trying to relate this
If it's true ,then it's a nice indicator to what we should be pursuing at a time
