Dengue fever is an acute febrile disease of the (sub) tropics caused by the Dengue virus,a flavivirus that is transmitted by Aedes mosquito and characterized by high fever,Skin rash, headache vomiting severe muscle and joint pain.It is also known as break bone fever or dandy fever.

It's earliest change detectable on laboratory investigation is a low white blood cell count which may then be followed by low platelets and metabolic acidosis (Wikipedia).It symptoms typically begin three to four teen days after infection.

Scientist had worked vigorously to combat the fever,their work ranges from number of test to diagnose it, dictating vaccine for it and enlightment to prevent the bite of the mosquito.

Recent research conducted by a team of researchers from several institution in Australia and Vietnam which was targeted directly at the virus was aimed at introducing a strain of bacteria known to infect the Aedes mosquito in the wild was found to be more effective in reducing the infection than bacteria introduced in the laboratory.The researchers outline the experiment they have conducted in Vietnam meant to reduce scores of human infected with the virus.

They resulted at introducing a bacteria strain wMel a wolbachia bacteria strain which had been established before to be harmless to moisquitoes but reduce their susceptibility to the virus.They to proceed to test the experiment in the wild and discovered that the bacteria strain reduced moisquitoes infection to the virus by 86%.

Accordingly to the source.The researchers revealed that the male mosquitoes already subjected to the experiment could be made to infiltrate a desired area when they mate with uninfected females which then lay eggs that never hatch.That would give females that become infected with wMel and pass it on to their offspring a reproductive advantage thereby causing their number to increase naturally in the wild

Though it is not yet clear if the approach would work,but effort is ongoing to check if it will work.
