ln part one we learnt about the importance of fruits how they should constitute most of our diet and how they help our stomach. It is advisable to eat fresh fruits and to have our own fruit orchard. Today l want to talk about grains.During my high school days when my mother was alive, we used to go to our farm and plough, one of the things that we were ploughing were grains. We used to plough beans,groundnuts,cowpeas,mealies and roundnuts. This constitute most of our diet,we would cook grains most of the time and substitute them for meat.We would go days eating grains and vegetables without meat.

Eating grains is more advisable because they contribute much to our growth and nourishment.Those who eat meat are eating grains at second hand , the animals receive from these grains the nutrion that produce growth.The life that was in the grains passes into the eater. We receive it by eating the flesh of the animal. How if ,if we would get it direct by eating the grains directly. My staple food is sadza(pap) but whenever l cook rice twice or thrice a week l usually don’t include meat l cook beans instead.

Most of us think that we get muscular strength from meat but that’s a mistake. What the body needs can be better obtained without meat.The grains with fruits and vegetables contain all the nutritive properties necessary to make good blood.The best part of it is that grains are cheap to obtain and they are easily accessible.Grains are easily prepared in a simple way,free from spices ,grease of all kinds . They can be served with milk or cream to make the most healthful meal.Grains have an impact in nourishing the body and in giving power of endurance and a vigor of intellect that are not produced by a stimulating diet

When cooking porridge using grains , make sure cook it for several minutes. But soft or liquid foods are less wholesome than dry foods,which require thorough mastication. Eating porridge in large amount should be avoided , it is not good for your digestive organs for it is too much of a liquid. Wholesome grains are more encouraged. Vegetarians should eat a lot of grains,fruits,nuts and vegetables that would be both nourishing and appetizing
