New discovery of exoplanets: Any effects on the earth in the milky way galaxy?
Some days ago, scientists who are ever discovering new planetary bodies, inventions and new phenomenons, discovered that there are new planets outside the milky way galaxy. Exciting right?

The milky way galaxy is one of the thousands of galaxies in existence and it is our galaxy, where earth is.
The scientific discovery of the nature of galaxies as distinct from other clouds was made in the 1920s.The Local Group which was also discovered, is a galaxy group that includes the Milky Way galaxy.
There are about 51 galaxies in the Local Group in our Local Supercluster and an estimated number of about one to two trillion in the universe.
The Local Group also comprises mostly dwarf galaxies and Its gravitational center is located between the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy.
The three biggest members of the group (in decreasing order) are the Andromeda Galaxy, the Milky Way and the Triangulum Galaxy.
Scientists have also suggested that in most galaxies, there are about 2,000 free-floating planets for every star. That means there could be several planets travelling, starless, in the galaxy that lies between the quasar and the Milky Way. A quasar is an active galaxy, formed when some galaxies emits vast amounts of energy as a result of gravitational effects of materials in the supermassive black hole at their center.
Galaxies that exists between our milky way and the quasar include the Small Magellanic Cloud, a dwarf galaxy located near the Milky Way,200,000 light-years away containing millions of stars another is the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) which is stuck in an orbital dance around our Milky Way galaxy.
Other known galaxies around the milky way galaxy include Andromeda, black eye galaxy, Cosmos, Cartwheel galaxy, Comet, Pinwheel, sunflower, Tadpole and others.

The milky way galaxy contains all the stars and the 9 planets in the universe, it is estimated to contain 100 to 400 billion stars including the solar system and several satellite galaxies which are smaller; Some visible to the eyes, others not. Let me quickly mention the popular 9 planets in the milky way.We know them, I remember in school I learnt this with the mnemonics My Very Earthly Mary James Sat Under Neth Pluto
Mercury: this planet is the closest to the sun and it the solar system in the milky way galaxy balanced.
Venus : this planet has helped scientists determine the distance to the sun.
Earth :this is the planet in which we live, it is the only known planet to have water and terrain. it is also useful in space researches
moon: this is earth’s natural satellite
Mars: is useful for scientific research as well and it encourages space mission. it is referred to as red planet.
Jupiter : this planet acts as Earths shield, blocking asteroids.
Saturn: this planet is known to be beautiful and important to the solar system because it keeps outer planets in balance.
Uranus: this planet is on a tilt and is so unusual.
Neptune: this planet was believed to be a star. It is the most distant planet from the sun.
Pluto: this planet is a small one and it consists of nitrogen, carbon monoxide and methane.
The above are the known planets which have been discovered thousands of years ago in the milky way galaxy, now about 3500 exoplanets outside the milky way galaxy have been confirmed.

This is the first time scientists will discover planets beyond the milky way. These planets are however located 3.8 billion light years away in the galaxy, hence they are too far away to be seen even with the biggest telescope available.
However astrophysicists were able to find these extra galactic palnets using the NASA’s Chandra X-ray observatory space telescope using the gravitational microlensing.
The chandra x-ray observatory is a telescope sensitive to x-ray sources 100 times fainter than any other x -ray telescope it is enabled by the high angular resolution of its mirrors. It was launched by NASA on July 23, 1999. The Chandra has lasted past its expected given lifetime of 5 years. It has greatly expanded the field of x-ray and astronomy.
The gravitational microlensing is a phenomenon predicted by Einstein’s general theory of relativity in which the gravitational field around objects in space can focus light just like a lens so that distant objects can be magnified and seen.
Although the existence of such extragalctic planets is still doubted and being researched by some individuals to authenticate it, this has been regarded as big news and it is the first of its kind. All known existing planets have been known to be present in the milky way.
How does discovering new planets help us?
According to astronomers finding other planets will teach us more about our own earth. We will be able to develop how to travel in space to other planets, exploring and making new discoveries.
Planets also have their effects on human life, just as stars are connected to human existence astrologers have been able to link our behaviour, our activities and our thoughts to planets. How? you may ask, our bodies are made up of atoms and the atomic make up of our bodies reacts to planetary cycles and their relative gravity.
This discovery will also aid scientific research on searching for potential life in other planets asides the earth, which is currently the only planet that harbors life.
Nice one ponmile.... Apart from moon as earth's natural satellite, are there others attached to any of the other 8planets in the milky way galaxy?
Yes there are..
