How does the solar system move?...... The truth about our orbits.

What were you taught as a child about the solar system? I am guessing you assume the planets move around the Sun in a nice perfect circle.

I am here to explain to you it is a bit different than you may think.

ORBITS AROUND THE SUN

Planets do not orbit around the Sun in perfect circles, in fact they are never perfect circles but actually are elliptical. There is a cool reason for this, the other planets in the solar system have gravitational forces also, so if a planet was put into a circular orbit somehow, it would evolve into an elliptical orbit due to the forces of gravity from other planets, and the elliptical orbit would be forever changing.

THE TRUE MOTION OF THE ORBITS

So now i have explained how the orbits around the sun are actually elliptical, I am going to explain the motion of the planets through the galaxy and the Universe.

Remember that our Solar system is in the our Galaxy, the Milky Way. The Sun is just another star, and all the stars in the Galaxy orbit around the super massive black hole at the center. The Sun is actually moving as 220,000 meters a second, and the planets all follow the Sun. So if we put these two motions together, that of the planets and the Sun moving through the galaxy, what we have is a system where the planets are orbiting in a spiral or even cooler a vortex.

You can see the motion in the GIF i have provided. Just a side note, I am interested in the motions because at a side view the planets could be seen to be moving in a wave like form, at certain points the waves for different planets can cross in such a wave that conventionally we would have interference of waves, so this is something I have my eye on to study in the future.

HOWEVER THIS IS NOT THE FULL STORY!.........................

MOTION OF GALAXY THROUGH THE UNIVERSE

There is another motion we must take into consideration and that is the fact the Galaxy is flying through the Universe, it travels at speeds of 500,000 meters a second. So the GIF you see, you can imagine that the whole image is moving upwards for example at 500 Km/s.

So this isn't true. Infact the planet is spinning at speeds up to 450 meters a second, which orbits the sun at speeds of 30,000 meters a second, which trave through the galaxy at speed 220,000 meters a second, which finally moves through the universe at speed 500,000 meters a second.

So trust me you are moving very fast, the planets orbit in a vortex, you are continually falling toward the Earth, which falls around the Sun, which falls around the Super Massive Black Hole, which just casually hurtles through the Universe as a result of the Big Bang.

I hope you Enjoyed.
