Where is the Hamza River and what makes it special?

Both rivers are born in the Peruvian Andes and flow into the Atlantic Ocean after a journey of about 6,000 km; although it must be added that the Hamza river is the widest of the two systems, since the distance between its margins is 200 to 400 km, while the width of the Amazon is between 1 and 100 km.

The researchers say that, "It is likely that the discharges of this underground flow are responsible for the great signs of low salinity of the sea in the vicinity of the mouth of the Amazon"; that low salinity alters marine life and allows typical river fish to live in the sea calmly.

The river has generated great interest and controversy after its presentation, since many think it is not a river, because there are characteristics of this that question the finding, such as the speed of water travel (10 to 100 meters per year ) and its salinity, although all this is still under discussion. It is thought that in Hamza the movement of water goes down and then flows horizontally to a depth of several kilometers, with a trajectory equal to "El Amazonas" from east to west.
