Good afternoon dear friends!

Yesterday I had my first pathology lab class! It was very interesting.
That is why I wanted to show you some pics I took with my cell phone to the histological images through the microscope.

So this first pic is a Lung:

But it is not a normal lung. This is known as Pulmonar Antracosis . If you focus, you can notice black pigments, which come from chacoal. This is a disease found in necropsia. It is common in people who live in big cities with high contamination or in people who works in charcoal mines.

The charcoal pigments enters our body through inhalatory pathways. It goes to the lungs and then to the mediastin ganglium.

This is a casual finding in necropsies.

Hope you found this information useful or at least interesting.

Tomorrow more and better :)

Does this mean that the lung is dying --the black spots-- or that the lung is already dead. Is the photo filtered?

It doesn't die! The black spots are just pigments that the cells "eat" and under the microscope You can notice the colour. Normally, it is something that You find when the animal/humanos is dead (but not because of this pigments.
And no, there are no philters!! All the colours are from the hematoxin-eosin cell dye.
So in conclusion, You don't die because of this. Maybe if You are exposed to a high level of contamination, this black color is visible without the microscope, like a smoker lung.
