First I wanted to make it in Matlab, but how many people are using Matlab...?
Excel, it needs VBA, only a few will check the code.
And then I found this simulation.
It is really awesome! I wish I had known about it sooner, plus it is fun to play around with (I like messing around with simulators)
This one is very good, simulating the ecosystem with the "plants" and "herbivores":
