What is ois?

Does ur phone has it?



Actually ois is abbrevation of optical image stabilization.It is used in camera lenses to get us less blurry image that happens during taking a photo.



Actually when u take photo at that time suppose u r walking or camera just shakes in ur hand than at time u may get a blurry image,so to overcome that ois (optical image stabilization) is used.When the camera shakes in ur hand then to counteract the shakkage the lens or sensor or by Digital image stabilzation technique we can reduce its bluriness.During the shooting of video this is probably we find many times hence ois can be great at that time.

Now lets take first normal one that is the basic lens based image stabilization.In this during shooting when camera shakes at that to counteract the lens is moved in opposite direction.The question here arises that how lens comes to know that there is some shakking of image happened,so answer is ,this is done by special sensor called gyroscope which tells that which side shaking of image has happened and thus moves the lens in opposite way also this lens are moved by special electromagnetic motor.

Since the lens has to move it should have that sensor ,so only few lenses in market can do the job those that has wide angles and fast primes can easily do job and also the best one available in market is nocticron and since only few lenses can do job so technology has becomed expensive and found only in flagship graded phones.



Sensor based image stabilization: It is often referred to as mechanical image stabilization in this we actually move sensor than moving lens.When shakkage of image happens at that time because of gyroscope processor comes to know and it coordiinates with actuator to move sensor so that image is directly projected on sensor plane and thus we get good image.

Now basic advantage with moving the image sensor, instead of the lens, is that the image can be stabilized even on lenses made without stabilization. This may allow the stabilization to work with many otherwise-unstabilized lenses, and reduces the weight and complexity of the lenses. Further, when sensor-based image stabilization technology improves, it requires replacing only the camera to take advantage of the improvements, which is typically far less expensive than replacing all existing lenses if relying on lens-based image stabilization.

One of the primary disadvantages of moving the image sensor itself is that the image projected to the viewfinder is not stabilized.

Similarly, the image projected to a phase-detection autofocus system, if used, is not stabilized.

Digital image stabilization It is technique shakkage movement by camera is corrected by special software ,here depending on the model, this can be accomplished in several ways.



Some camcorders will calculate the impact of your body movement and use that data to adjust which pixels on the camcorder's image sensor are being used. It uses pixels from beyond the visible frame as motion buffer to smooth over the transition frame by frame.



See ois can help only when shakkage is from recorders side but when it is from subject ois can do nothing.
