RE: Understanding: What The Heck Is A 'Genetic Disease'?

in #steemstem8 years ago

I don't think I follow your questions too well.

  1. I am not familiar with all of the gene regulation related to the healing of wounds. So I'm afraid I don't know the answers to this question.

  2. We eat organisms, organisms have DNA, so we eat their DNA. However not all proteins have DANA bound, in fact relatively few of them would relative to the total amount of protein.

  3. Human DNA is repaired by proteins, there are a variety of repair mechanisms and all utilize enzymes for the maintenance of the integrity of the DNA and chromosomes.

You're welcome

I follow you with pleasure, please continue sharing.. :) @justtryme90

There are many studies being done right now were we measures protein levels to relate with certain diseases. Since we are our proteins not DNA, DNA is just the theoretical gene composition not the expressed one. The expressed genome change all the time and in patients we have found clear marker proteins corresponding to anything from cancer to depression. These proteins can be targeted for silencing with RNAi at a DNA or classic antagonists to prevent their function.

We use DNA& RNA to change the expressed proteome, which is you not proteins to change DNA. It is not possible to design, deliver and solve specificity of protein treatments for genetic problems, they must be delivered to and target cell nuclei mostly, with 100% specificity, but it´s cumming along with improvements in computational power.
