You knew, the shoes for the left and right foot were the same!

Have you ever put your shoes in the dark, and have turned out to be the other way around ?, then you know how uncomfortable they can become.

But this was not a problem in antiquity because the left and right shoes did not exist but both pairs were totally identical.

The first shoes that have been recorded in the history of mankind, were more or less than a bag for the foot, and dating from 7000 a.c. nevertheless it was not until 3500 a.c. When leather shoes were used, later the technique improved, but the concept remained the same, a set of fabrics or leather rolled up to protect our feet when walking.

For many years in the history of human beings were not established as a shoe for the "right" and "left" but were made in a single format and put any one on both feet.

The first shoes were simple made of leather simply to protect the feet from stones, debris and cold. Throughout the years in some parts of Europe, the shoe became a symbol of social status of the noble and wealthy, leaving the poor and marginalized barefoot, but it reached ridiculous proportions, which forced its simplification and creation of new styles until it reached to the modern shoe that is solid and stitched.

The variety in footwear was adopted by Rome, where the meaning of the shoe is extended and becomes an amulet for good luck. In the Middle Ages there is a change in the use that is given to footwear. Any symbolic meaning is ignored and the taste for the aesthetic begins to gain strength. Or what is the same, the shoe begins to be an element to extol the virtues or cover the possible defects in the feet. It was not until Louis XIV in the eighteenth century which makes fashionable the heeled shoe in order to disguise its short height. In the nineteenth century, new models and ways of making footwear appear and that's where the differences appear between the pairs exactly in Philadelphia where the first copies were born that differentiated between the right and left foot although what promised to be a revolution in the world of footwear It turned out to be a fiasco because people did not like the change and it cost a lot to adapt. Around 1850, the new form of shoes began to be accepted and used on a daily basis, although not totally definitive. For example, in the American Civil War of 1861-1865, the soldiers' boots were still identical for both feet.

The sports shoes were not created until 1916 also in the United States where they were the big footwear industries at that time.

The twentieth century will be the century of the female shoe because previously women's footwear was very similar to that of men but little by little women are incorporated into the public sphere due in part to the fact that they have to replace men in work They march to war, which is why they begin to adapt new criteria of footwear and adapt adornments and new forms.

Like many other inventions, objects and customs, the appearance of the shoe dates back to ancient civilizations. Then, the shoe was not only used to protect the feet but it was a symbol that marked differences between human beings. In Egypt, only the pharaoh and the dignitaries could wear shoes. In Greece, it was the free men who wore shoes, while in Rome the slaves went barefoot and the criminals did it with heavy wooden shoes.
