Eclipse | Solar & Lunar

I’m sure you already heard the word eclipse, right? Do you still remember the two classifications of eclipse?

You’re right! They are Solar and Lunar Eclipse. Can you still recall their differences?

Some of you here still remember their unlikeness but some forgot what is it all about or have an overpass memory about the topic.

Eclipse, as old-time says “bad omen”, they believe it is a supernatural phenomenon and it could result to a disaster. But that was a long time ago without technology or scientific explanation of our world, without analyzing that it is just natural to the occurrence and nothing else.

Solar Eclipse

It is the type of an eclipse happen when the moon transmits between the Sun and Earth. It’s either the moon fully covers (total lunar eclipse) or partially covering (annular eclipse) the Sun’s Disk. This happens only at the meeting of a new moon and the sun as what we see on earth.

Why we only have rare occurrence of a Solar Eclipse?

Lunar Eclipse

This occurs when Luna (our moon) passes the Earth’s shadow (umbra) same from the occurrence of Solar Eclipse the alignment of three celestial bodies (syzygy), during this phenomenon Earth is between the Sun and Moon. Thus, the Lunar eclipse occurs during at night at full moon which is relative to its line of nodes in terms of its type and length.

Why sometimes it is called Bloody Moon when Total Lunar Eclipse?

_{During a lunar eclipse, as said from above, is very relative to its line of nodes. Total Lunar Eclipse (total blocking of earth from the sunlight)is a type of lunar eclipse, only this time as explained by the Rayleigh scattering of blue light which results to producing red light - like the color of sunset, calling it as Bloody Moon.}

Unlike from the Solar Eclipse phenomena which can be viewed only the other part of the world, a Lunar Eclipse can be viewed by all the night side of the Earth. Furthermore, it also safe to view by naked eyes because it is dimmer than during full moon , unlike the solar eclipse which needed a sun protection.

Just recently during January 31, 2018, is the perfect example of Bloody Moon. To add, that it is the Blue Moon of the month at the same time a Super Moon which called as Super Blue Red Moon by many.
