Flying bikes are no longer science fiction

The flying cars and their version on two wheels are vehicles with which the human being has been dreaming for a long time; and science fiction literature and cinema have been able to capture that desire very well. All those who have imagined ourselves ever piloting the powerful Speeder bike of Star Wars, literally flying over the asphalt, we are somewhat closer to making our dream come true thanks to the start up Hoversurf and its Scorpion-3.

It is a prototype of a single-seat aircraft that combines the design of a standard motorcycle with the own technology of a drone, since it rises in the air propelled by four propellers - what it provides, both to professional pilots and to amateurs , great flight stability.

It is equipped with a security system operated by last generation flight controllers, with speed limitation and computer-assisted altitude to avoid accidents. In this sense, it can reach almost 50 km / h of speed and a height of about 10 meters. It also has autonomy to stay in the air approximately 27 minutes.

Its engineers have sought to provide the vehicle with maneuverability and, for this, the crew has control of the machine: it can surf the skies by varying the altitude and direction with the controls.

The company explains that, to this day, Scorpion-3 may be seen more as an instrument to practice extreme sports than as a means of transport, but its potential in this sense is "evident", they point out. Its price will be about 150,000 dollars (approximately 142.00 euros).
