Man's wants are said to be insatiable, this has made engineering to keep revolving in order to solve mans problem but optimization. Optimization tend to do with the reduction of cost and increase in profits. The major cost in engineering has to do with energy consumption, this has lead to the use of renewable source of energy in most engineering project.

Renewable Energy and its Limitation

Most renewable energy can be traced back to the sun. The sun is the major source of renewable energy, some are gotten directly, like solar energy while others are gotten from the sun indirectly. Wind turbines use energy from wind to produce work but the wind is driven by the heat of the sun. Hydro-turbines also generate power indirectly from the sun from running water bodies is is driven by wind and sun heat. Bio-energy is also a great source of renewable energy, but it derives his energy from living organisms with depends also on sunlight for photosynthesis.

This source of power generation are limited in several ways. The cost of installing this device are very expensive and most of their life span is very short. The storage resource are also expensive. Some of this resources are geographical and climate base (e.g wind and sunlight). Most renewable energy produces small power and cannot be used for major project. There is a need therefore for a perpetual motion machine.

The introduction of Perpetual Motion Machine

Perpetual motion machine tend to solve mans numerous problems, it is the beginning of the new age science, it involved the continuous motion with an energy source, this is a solution to the limitations of renewable energy source. Perpetual motion machines of of two kind the first and second.
According to the free dictionary;

Perpetual motion machine of the first kind is an hypothetical mechanism that continues indefinitely without any external source of energy, while

Perpetual motion machine of the second kind is an hypothetical mechanism that derives its energy from a source at a lower temperature.

Perpetual motion machine is said to violate the laws of thermodynamics, therefore its not operational. There are been many attempts to build one but it always fail in reality. But the world of science has taught me that the impossibilities of today is tomorrows innovation. Like @samminator said in Achieving The First Double-Face Transplant [Miracle of medical science]

One of the things I always believed when it come to "impossibility" is this; they don’t exist.

Perpetual motion machine is achievable if more research is done, there has been some close attempt to making a perpetual motion machine, but future research is needed in this field.

This is a closed-cycle water mill, a design by Robert Fludd an English Physician in 17th century. The machine is designed by Fludd is to run by the energy derived from water falling from a water reservoir located at the top of the machine into the wheel mill, this energy from the falling water turns an Archimedes screw located at the wheel mill and the Archimedes screw turns in a way that causes the water from the wheel mill below to return to the water reservoir at the top of the machine, this is a continuous process, making the machine runs perpetually without external energy source

The above design is a move towards the realization of a perpetual motion machine that can operate without external energy supply. The world of science needs to wake up to reality of using energy free device/machines.

The discovery of time crystal in 2017 is also an eye opener to the possibility of getting an limitless and energy free device.

This are crystals that repeat its structure in time and in space. The discovery of time crystals violet previous scientific theories. Other crystals repeat itself in space not in time. Time crystals have broken time-translation symmetry, by repeating its patterns in time. Time crystal causes fields and particles to change their energy by just interacting with a time crystal, the same way field and particles changes momentum when they interact with a spatial crystal. Time crystal is said to undergo motion without energy source, thou its not a perpetual motion machine but it sure show that perpetual motion machine invention is very close.

Just like mobile phone (telephone with wire) which seem impossible some years back, there is a need to go back into perpetual motion machine design and manufacturing. Giving up on this technology might just mean lucking mankind away from a major breakthrough in engineering. The idea that its not possible is just a trick to blind man from inventing a machine that operate limitless and practically free energy consumption. Scientist should embark on this cause so as to get the the desired breakthrough in our days.
