Electromagnetic pollution, how to prevent that affects your health

in #steemstem5 years ago

When we talk about pollution, the environment always comes to mind and we think about the contamination of water, soil, air, sonic, among others; but numerous investigations have led to talk about other types of pollution, such as: Space, radioactive, genetic, electromagnetic, thermal, visual, light pollution. In the development of this publication I will refer only to Electromagnetic Pollution (also called electrosmog)

At the beginning of the 20th century, the human being omitted or simply did not produce electromagnetic fields and, of course, everything related to them was an unknown world. But at the end of that same century as well as so far in the 21st century we have seen an unprecedented growth in both the number and the diversity of electromagnetic sources for individual, industrial and commercial applications.

Our world is invaded by numerous communications transmissions, radio stations, television, radars, communications systems for military, civil and commercial purposes. Radio frequencies are increasingly used for industrial, scientific and medical purposes, the world was revolutionized with the existing technological advancement, and for the moment no risk was yet noticed.

Just as that storm of electromagnetic equipment invades the world, so does it in our homes, because humans are intimately related to television systems, radio, computers, cell phones, microwave ovens, radars, wireless internet networks, as well as used equipment in industries, medicine, commerce, whose operation will always generate electromagnetic fields.

What is Electromagnetic Pollution?

It is understood as electromagnetic pollution, the presence of the different forms of electromagnetic energy that exist in the environment, and that according to the time of exposure to it, as well as its magnitude of installation and capacity can cause damage and health risks to people and ecosystems.

Currently, this definition has been used much more frequently to describe human exposure to electromagnetic radiation, which can cause damage to human health.

It is then that in these last years they warn of the effects that this contamination could have on the environment and in human beings. Currently it becomes a worrying situation, since human activities are mostly filled with electromagnetic fields both in workplaces, recreation or at home.

Forms of electromagnetic energy

There are two ways of how energy creates electromagnetic fields through radiation:

1. Ionizers:

They have photons with enough energy to produce ionization of matter.

2. Non-ionizing:

Without enough energy to ionize matter.

The
electromagnetic field in this form of non-ionizing radiation is applied at high
and low frequencies, where the electric and magnetic field is intimately linked
and can be freely propagated in space as waves.

Do you know
the sources that radiate electromagnetic waves in everyday life?

There are
many but among the best known we have: mobile phone antennas and other
telecommunication systems, routers to generate WI-FI, mobile and wireless
phones, electrical equipment, high-voltage line transformation centers, cables.

The way in
which electromagnetic pollution occurs can be divided into two groups:

High
frequency electromagnetic radiation:

2.Television
/ radio

3.Wimax,

4. Wi-Fi
systems

5.Mobile

Human health risks from excessive exposure?

One of the main adverse health effects is the production of cancer, leukemia, brain tumors, reduced fertility, memory loss and adverse changes in the behavior and development of children.

If the standards of care and protection are respected before being exposed to excessive electrical radiation, the health risk is really minimal or harmless.

Preventive measures we can take

The use of cell phones is to receive or make short-term calls

The use of hearing aids helps move the antenna away from the head.

Keep children away from cell phone use.

The electric power lines and their associated equipment should be located far away, mainly from homes and schools.

Avoid electrical appliances or electrical wiring near your bed.

Keep your face or head a safe distance from fluorescent tubes or lamps.

Avoid working with laptops on your body.

Do not get too close to the TV or computer monitor.

Stay away while using microwaves, electric ovens, or consumer appliances.

Maintain
adequate grounding in your home to reduce contamination by electric fields.
