Our relationship with gravity (Part 1)steemCreated with Sketch.

Gravity is designed to have a very intimate relationship with us. Like most close relationships, both parties serve each other in a ‘give and take’ manner.

Gravity takes away our ability to fly through the air with ease and grow to heights that would make Le Bron James look petite. In return, we get stronger muscles, denser bones and develop fine motor skills.

But who are we kidding, relationships are never smooth. Gravity is now robbing us of a happy, healthy, pain-free, high-performance lifestyle! The ironic thing is it is our fault, but no one sees it.

It all boils down to communication. Most humans no longer speak gravities language. Fortunately, I understand it, and I’m going to teach it to all the readers through this series.

By now you are intrigued, but, a little confused. It will all make sense shortly, I promise.

  • The first thing to know: We are always affected by gravitational forces, even while sleeping.
  • Second: The human body has evolved with all the structures needed to thrive in a gravitational environment.
  • Third: Human physical performance is measured by who communicates best with gravity.

So to understand this critical language we need first to learn it’s alphabet. The alphabet represents all the postures/positions/shapes our body can get into.

As with any language, specific letters go together. To be understood, we must have a good vocabulary and correct spelling.

Our bodies are capable of many positions, but the correct timing and sequence of those positions are essential for us to express a functional body language.

The forces of Gravity, like the curators on Steemit, penalize poor language quality.

What to look forward to in future episodes:

In this series, I will break down the human anatomy into segments, like the neck, for example. The goal is to understand the good and bad postures of the specific sections. Once you know them, Its easier to identify errors.

As we move through the segments, you will also start to see how they are all influenced by one another. A lousy position in one area can cause upstream or downstream problems in the system.

The language then gets more complicated by transitioning from one body shape to the next. We call this movement.

It is spectacular when you start to understand movement, because when done correctly its expressed like poetry.

Yes, he, Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo Galilei, Johannes Kepler, Rene Descartes and Isaac Newton were among the first to identify and understand the gravitational effect on human mechanics.
