Epic photos man! I don't reckon I've ever seen a living puffball. Or- didn't recognize it as such, that is. Of course I've experienced the explosive end stage, which is quite cool :D. Nice find. I still can't believe puffballs are borderline cute when alive. Scratch that, they are.
Thanks man - I was lucky to find them at all given the lack of recent rain - but the moss must hold in a lot of morning dew from the stream and make it's own perfect little habitat.
