WHAT ARE ELECTRIC CARS?
The term Electric cars is not new to our society,it appeared first in the 1800s
,it is a car with a motor that is powered by electricity stored in a battery ,the motor controls the wheel and it is also controlled by a controller
,in detailed sense its the controller that is powered by the batteries,the motor just works on behalf of the controllers.

  • In the past year,Transportation has become the leading cause of Air Pollution in the united states,the electric car has no tailpipe that makes it air pollution free,with the clamour for a less polluted society,it won't be a surprise if the demand for electric Car surges higher.

  • The price of electric cars seems to be on the upside when compared to a conventional gasoline engine car,but with a full cost analysis taking Factors like cost of maintenance,volatile fuel prices,the electric car comes out cheaper,coupled with a solar energy system,it's a really cheap option.

• COUNTRIES ARE ENCOURAGING IT

  • China has already called for one of six carsto be electric by the year 2025.
    China,already the biggest maker and seller of the electric Car.
    China is predicted to have 40% of the global electric vehicle market in the future,although Chinese consumers prefer foreign designs to their's boxy designs,China are also recruiting the best electrical engineers even from the United states,if a country like China with approximately a population of 1.4 billion can commit to Electric cars you can imagine the effects Globally.China is also Home to some smaller companies that makes parts essential to the assembly of an Electric Car.United states company Tesla owned by Elon musk has also made a name for itself by producing solely Electric Cars.

• EASIER MAINTENANCE

  • Under the hood of an electric Car,it is a wiring project,unlike the traditional car with lots of moving parts,the only moving part in an electric car is the motor,less moving parts equals no noise and easier maintenance,with an electric car no need to change exhaust systems,starter systems,fuel injection systems e.t.c,The only part that might need changing in an electric car is Batteries which typically comes with a warranty of eight years.Electric cars are relatively stronger and simpler,just maintain the brakes,tyres and suspension and you're good to go.

• EASIER DRIVING

  • With a regenerative braking system and a non-multispeed transmission system(i.e no switching of gears with different speeds), electric cars with exception of heavy duties car don't have multi-speed transmission system and they don't necessarily need it.Electric cars use electric motor generator which generate their torques(measured in N.M) at very low speed(tire revolution per minute) as speed increases ,torque reduces at an average of torque of 100n.m it can generate a speed of 2,250 rpm which is perfect for cruising.Of course, this doesn’t mean that electric cars couldn’t have gears, but they aren’t necessary. First, given Electric motor generators torque / power / rpm characteristics, they’re perfect for transportation. Torque is necessary for acceleration, the most of which is generated near stall. Power is necessary for cruising, the most of which is developed at high rpm. Second, a multispeed electric vehicle transmission would add weight, complexity, friction, and inefficiency to an otherwise simple system ,the electric car is a joy to drive and it's perfect for cruising,although it's maximum speed is not as much as some blazing gasoline powered vehicles but some can attain a maximum speed of 155 mph although work is in progress to produce an electric supercar,the Tesla roadster to be released in 2020 is going to be world fastest car with an aceleration of 250mph.

• Prominent automobile companies like Chevrolet,Nissan,Bmw,Ford have started producing electric cars,Ford C.E.O has already pledged to spend $4.5 billion to introduce 13 new electric vehicle nameplates by 2020.

  An electric car can also be charged by a renewable energy like solar energy.!
  A solar energy system will charge your electric car and it will power the rest of your home appliances for free,Even a small solar system of 12 solar panels will power both your vehicles and home appliances but before you make a decision on the size of your solar energy system,you need to determine how much electricity your car will use in the future.An electric car with a solar system might be the cheapest option ever.

• CONS OF AN ELECTRIC CAR

  • The range of an electric car is relatively lower than that of a gasoline car,an average electric car can't go more than 120 miles per charge while an average gasoline Car can go up to 300 miles on a full tank with some fuel efficient vehicles going farther than that, although an electric car seems suitable for average distances. It also takes an electric Car longer time to "Refuel" than a conventional gasoline car,it takes about 8 hours to fully recharge a battery pack with some chargers but high charging station takes about 30 mins,this Charging issue is expected to improve with technological advances and increment in number of high power charging stations.

Most self-driving cars of the future will also be electric because an electric car is easier to drive for computers,and regulatories like gas-mileage requirements and also considering the fact that it will be easier,cheaper and safer for an unmanned car to charge itself electrically than pumping Gas.
Imagine a future where our roads are made up of NO tailpipe,no noise,self driving cars,hmm it's limitless,enough reason why electric cars are the future. I think now is a time to invest in the electric vehicle industry.You can even start by building charging stations.
