Apollo 11, the giant leap for mankind.

The spaceflight put the first two humans on the Moon. on July 20, 1969, at 20:18 UTC, Neil Armstrong & pilot Buzz Aldrin, landed on moon with the lunar module Eagle.

On July 21 at 02:56 UTC, nearly 6 hours after landing on the moon, Armstrong became the first one to step onto the lunar surface; Buzz Aldrin joined him about twenty minutes later. They spent near about 2:15 hours together outside the spacecraft & collected 21.5 kg of lunar material to bring back to Earth for research purposes.

Michael Collins piloted the command module Columbia in lunar orbit. Armstrong and Aldrin spent just under a day on the lunar surface before rejoining Columbia.

The following are the series of nostalgic images from the mission and the historical event.

Armstrong's shadow & the shadow of the camera are clearly visible on the ground. while on the moon, this is the furthest distance from the lunar module traveled by either both the astronauts.

In the image, Buzz Aldrin is moving toward a position to deploy 2 components of the Early Apollo Scientific Experiments Package (EASEP).
